Assembly Instructions for Series 50 and 70 Cetrifugal Pumps

Steps - Close Couple - Mechanical Seal

  1. Bolt mount to motor with four (4) stainless steel bolts (3/8").
  2. Position coupling onto motor shaft.  Tighten.
  3. Insert ceramic seat into volute case seal cavity (channeled side first.)
  4. Bolt volute case onto mount with four (4) stainless steel bolts (5/16").
  5. Slide retaining washer, stainless steel spring and carbon ring onto impeller shaft in that order.  (Use a little grease to help with carbon ring)
  6. Insert impeller shaft into volute case seal cavity and align with motor coupling.  Impeller must be between 1/16" to 1/32" from inside volute housing and impeller veins.
  7. Tighten motor coupling for both motor and impeller shafts.
  8. Position face gasket and bolt suction plug onto volute case.
  9. Check for unobstructed impeller rotation.

 

Steps - Close Couple - Stuffing box/double Mechanical Seal (3A)

  1. Bolt mount to motor with four (4) stainless steel bolts (3/8").
  2. Position coupling onto motor shaft.  Tighten.
  3. Pack molded and lantern rings into volute stuffing box.  (lantern ring belongs in the middle)
    3A. Insert ceramic seats with vegetable oil into volute stuffing box and follower.  During Step 6- slip spring with two carbon rotating faces onto shaft of impeller.
  4. Position follower over packing.  Do not tighten.
  5. Bolt volute case onto mount with four (4) stainless steel bolts (5/16").
  6. Insert impeller shaft into volute case and align with motor coupling.  Impeller must be between 1/16" and 1/32" from inside volute housing and impeller veins.
  7. Tighten motor coupling for both motor and impeller shafts.
  8. Position face gasket and bolt suction plug onto volute case.
  9. Tighten follower.
  10. Check for unobstructed impeller rotation.

For outboard models use outboard mount with bearings (pressed fit) bolted to channel base.  Once pump is together, align motor and pump shaft with coupling provided.
